Democracy is meangingless unless its linked up with a strong independent judiciary, which delivers justice for all, pay your judges well, train your lawyeers, state prosecutor and you will not worry about corrupt official.Natural selection and logic tells me, if you foundation is right the rest will be right. For now we are building a democracy minus the foundation of democracy which delivery of justice.... Until we do that forget democracy, its about the effective delivery of justice to all regardless to status, tribe. I welcome adwoa comment but all she says ...whatever...and talk is cheap. pls its a debate try avoid personal slogan devoid of any intectual facts..
I think the judicial system is better during Kufour's government but major improvements needs to be made. Some individuals adhere to the popular saying 'a thosand mile journey begins with a step' -hence Ghana is on the right track. However, I believe justice should be served when it's due irrespective of a person's status in Ghana. All Ghanaians are under the rule of law. I want to thank everyone joining this stimulating forum, nevertheless, I think It would be smart if everyone states their point of view and show some enlightenment.
Adwoa all you can say is talk is cheap...so you do not agree we have a corrupted judiciary and that goes to confirm you state of mind, your african system of reasoning ,secondly tell the politician you agree with to deliver an effective justice system ,,,,,,you also agree a chicken thief should be \assaulted and politicain using state funds should be let off the hook......you will eat your words soon.
You are right but the system we have needs a complete change, how the judiciary works in the country, i feel there is more justices in europe despite racism etc than in africa.... the political system be it democracy or dictatorship is a sinking ship, no wonder africa we have all this wars dotted around.
in ghana case the politician have to no ethics, conviction and this paternalistic system of government should booted out of office and real ,cheaper affordable democracy installed. as long we have that crazy culture we are far away from any meaningful development...dog is dog situation until its will one engulf us.
Your article is interesting. However it is more biased and has some political undertones. How many ministers have ever been jailed or tried under any government in Ghana? Even under Kufour, a minister has been jailed and others have been put before CHRAJ. It is very important to deal with all people equally for the crimes they commit both as individuals and as public officials.
However, under Kufour, the judiciary is better than under Rawlings.
Please try to be fair and objective in your presentations on national issues.
why do we beat a chicken thief and send him to jail, but under kuffour a minister steals millions and we ask him to return the money.... The country must reform from the top before it trickles down
