The Bank of Ghana has finally revealed the total amount used in the entire redenomination exercise undertaken in July this year.
The Central Bank announced last year that it was bent on redenomination the currency by pegging one new Ghana cedi to ten thousand old Ghana Cedis.
The Bank said the move was to ease the cost of transactions in the country. After months of revealing little about the amount involved in the exercise, the Bank of Ghana has now come clear on the amount.
At a monetary policy committee press briefing on Tuesday, the Governor, Dr. Paul Acquah said a total of about sixty six point two million US dollars was spent on the printing and educational campaign of the redenomination exercise.
